Welcome — this is the word whispered to my heart as I think of my area of focus in 2021. The dictionary definition is always a good starting place.
“to receive or accept with pleasure; regard as pleasant or good.”
Romans 15: 7 says, “Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.” I don’t think it does great violence to the text to substitute the word welcome for the word receive. So then, Jesus wants us to welcome one another even as He has welcomed us into the glory of His Father.
In a simple sense, welcome is making room. There are many ways to do that, I suppose. I adapted an acronym to accomplish what I feel is important for me in 2021.
Worship – Making room for God
Embrace – Making room for my family
Learn – Making room to grow my mind
Care – Making room for my health
Offer – Making room for others
Minimize – Making room by clearing a thing or practice from my life
Everyday Blessings – Recording the little joys that occur when I make room
I will be recording my progress here as an accountability measure each month as I reflect upon the previous month and plan for the next. If you’d like to join me, send me a private message. I’d love some extra accountability and friendship along the way!
